The Fund for Public Health NYC is the NYC Department of Health and Mental Hygiene’s longtime, trusted partner in launching public health initiatives. We connect the Health Department to private sector partners and the greater philanthropic community, working together to achieve our vision of a city where all New Yorkers share equitably in a culture of healthy living and enjoy optimal health.

Our Impact

Since our founding in 2002, we’ve secured more than $550 million to support over 440 projects that impact the lives of New Yorkers. These new and creative projects have a profound impact on the health and well-being of over 8.5 million New York City residents.

Fighting Epidemics

Epidemics spread rapidly and impact many lives. Epidemics can be widespread communicable diseases, such as COVID-19, or widespread chronic conditions or behaviors, such as as diabetes or opioid use. FPHNYC continues to fight the spread of existing and new epidemics through its innovative model.

Healthy Mothers & Babies

Bringing a new life into the world should be a joyful experience, but for many across NYC, pregnancy and childbirth can be fraught with dangerous health challenges. FPHNYC partners with the Health Department to address maternal health disparities and inequality, helping new families live happier, healthier lives.

Supporting Public Health Infrastructure

FPHNYC provides the NYC Health Department with project management, budget development, fundraising support, fiscal compliance, and personnel hiring, onboarding, and management. An example of our unique model’s impact is enabling the Health Department and Community-Based Organizations to deploy Community Health Workers (CHWs), trusted liaisons who help individuals access services that support their health, across New York City.
